You may have an infant who noshes on jarred baby foods, or know someone who fits that description. If so, you can make use of those jars in your garage or home office. Baby jars are easy to come by and very inexpensive, even if you have to buy them solely for the purpose if organizing; so don’t write this off just yet. In the garage, craft room, school room or home office, lids of baby jars can be nailed or hot glued to the underside of a surface, such as a cupboard or bookshelf. This surface should be near to wear you work with small items in order to be the most effective. Once the lids are secured to their surface, clean jars can be twisted into place. Baby food jars are great for holding pins, nails, screws, bolts, paper clips, tacks, and any other small necessity. If you don’t like the look of baby food jars hanging around your office, you can find creative ways to decorate them so they become attractive and functional accessories.
Many people keep plastic bags from the grocery store to use for other purposes around the home. Storage of plastic bags can be a challenge, however. Much of the time, they are stored within one bag; but over time extra bags escape and before you know it your cabinet is a mess. To organize plastic bags under the sink, place them into an empty tissue box. The box provides a sturdy containment method while allowing you to easily access bags when you need them.
Finding ways to organize holiday decorations poses a special challenge. Since these items are used only once throughout the year, it pays to find ways to organize their storage and usage. For ribbon, an effective storage method is to place spools onto a vertical paper towel holder. This method of organization allows for several spools of ribbon to be organized in one handy place. It also allows for ribbon to be stowed away into a box when not in use.
In this electronic age we live in, homes are overloaded with cords for this machine or that. Organizing cords creates convenience and cuts down on clutter. However, most people don’t have a clue where to start when they want to organize cords. Velcro tape is an inexpensive and handy method to keep cords in check. Behind the television or in the home office, fasten several cords together with Velcro tape and cover them with fabric if you really want them to disappear. To make sure you know which cord goes to which machine, label them.
